Making the most of Uni

As a recent grad, I am constantly reminiscing about my time at uni. Although I am glad to have finished, I’m also so sad not to be back in Notts waiting for another term to start. The last couple of months have given me time to think about the best parts of my uni experience, and how you can make the most of your 3 years there.

Join societies

You’ve heard it all before, but societies really are one of the best things about uni. You can try new things, meet new people, and even develop new skills. I really wish I had tried something completely new at uni as I stuck to what I knew in terms of the societies I joined. Nevertheless, being part of societies was one of the best things about uni for sure.

Not only are societies great to be a member of, but you also have the chance to be on a committee. This gives you something to talk about at job interviews, but more importantly, it gives you the chance to get involved in the running of something you love!

Study abroad

Studying abroad is my favourite topic to talk about, as I truly believe it’s one of the best ways to make the most of uni. When else will you have the chance to live and study in another country? It’s such a great opportunity to meet people from different cultures, travel, and learn things about the world.

It can be tough, and you’ll inevitably miss your uni and life back home, but nothing compares to that time abroad. You’ll come back a different person, and I think it’s such a valuable experience for any student.

Work hard

It goes without saying, but getting the best out of uni is down to you working hard and getting that degree! It’s easy to get carried away and forget the reason you are there. Although studying is tough, I promise you that it is worth it when you walk the stage in your cap and gown.
