The best things to do at the Nottingham Christmas Market

It might be my love for anything Christmas related, or just my soft spot for Nottingham as a city, but I LOVE the Notts Christmas market. Luckily for me, it’s already open (despite it being November)! I went on the first night and checked out what’s on offer this year. Here are some things you can’t miss out on!

The Ice Rink

Ok so I’ve never actually been on the ice rink at the Christmas market, despite this being my 4th year visiting them. I’m determined to make this the year that I set foot on the ice. The rink is the centrepiece of the entire setup, and I think it’s just gorgeous, especially at night! It’s also pretty well priced, and there is a special student price too.

The Music

This is a bit of a weird one, but I was so impressed by the music when I went to the markets that I had to mention it! We only intended on staying for a couple of songs, but the House Band really impressed us so we stayed for their whole set. What I really liked was that they didn’t play Christmas music – controversial, I know. I do love a good Christmas song, but I also think that having live music that people can sing along to is so much better.

The Food

Honestly I would go to the markets just for the food. This year they have such a great variety. On Friday I paid a visit to the cheese stall (which is great), and got some churros (classic market food), but there’s SO much more that I want to try! I think I spotted a Yorkshire Pudding wrap which will definitely make its way into my hands at some point this Christmas.

The Christmas Spirit

Let’s end on a cliche. I love the Christmassy vibe at the markets. Whether you are a Christmas lover or not, you can’t help but feel warm and fuzzy at the markets. It’s just lovely.
